Heat Treatment Measurement & Control

Atmosphere Control Technologies for Gas-Atmosphere Heat Treatment Furnaces

Precise atmosphere control is one of the most critical requirements in modern heat treatment operations.

FAM provides reliable measurement and control technologies designed specifically for gas-atmosphere heat treatment furnaces. Our solutions support stable furnace atmospheres, accurate carbon potential control and consistent metallurgical results.

With many years of industry experience, we help manufacturers improve process stability, increase repeatability and reduce production risks in carburizing and related heat treatment processes.

Carbon Potential Control

Maintaining a stable and accurate carbon potential is essential for carburizing heat treatment processes. FAM CarbView carbon control systems continuously calculate and regulate the carbon potential of the furnace atmosphere based on oxygen probe measurements and process parameters. The system provides reliable atmosphere control, helping operators maintain consistent carburizing conditions while preventing deviations that could affect product quality. Designed for industrial environments, CarbView systems are widely used in pit furnaces, chamber furnaces and continuous carburizing lines.

In addition to furnace atmosphere control, CarbView can also be used for endogas generator control. When installed on an endogas generator, the system can regulate the air-to-gas ratio to maintain a stable and consistent generator atmosphere.

If required, the CarbView controller can also be configured to display the dew point of the generated atmosphere, allowing operators to monitor generator performance and ensure reliable endogas quality.

This capability enables precise carbon control and improved process stability in carburizing heat treatment operations.

Furnace Atmosphere Gas Analysis

Understanding the composition of the furnace atmosphere is essential for diagnosing and optimizing heat treatment processes.

The FAM FurnaceView portable gas analyzer enables precise measurement of CO, CO₂ and CH₄ levels directly from the furnace atmosphere.

Using advanced infrared measurement technology, the system provides rapid analysis and instantly calculates important process parameters such as carbon potential, dew point and oxygen probe mV values.

FurnaceView can also be used for endogas generator diagnostics. When the endogas measurement mode is selected, the analyzer automatically adapts its calculation and display for generator atmosphere analysis.

This allows engineers to quickly evaluate generator efficiency, verify catalyst condition and detect atmosphere problems before they affect furnace performance.

FurnaceView is widely used by heat treatment engineers for troubleshooting atmosphere problems, verifying probe performance and optimizing both furnace and generator operation.

Oxygen Measurement in Furnace Atmospheres

Accurate oxygen measurement is the foundation of reliable carbon potential control in gas-atmosphere heat treatment furnaces.

FAM oxygen probes continuously measure the oxygen partial pressure inside the furnace atmosphere, providing the essential input required for precise carbon potential calculation.

Designed for demanding industrial conditions, our probes help stabilize furnace atmospheres, improve carbon control accuracy and increase process repeatability during carburizing operations.
